Smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors are now required in all Residential and Commercial properties. This requires Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors on all floors of a residential property. Multi-Family and Commercial property requirements are different and may be already part of the fire alarm system. See the Wisconsin Department of Commerce PDF for requirements for your property or call us and we can help you determine what is required and what will work best for your property. There are many options available (depending on the age of a Residential Property) including Electric (direct connected), Battery, Electric with Battery backup, Interconnected models so all Detectors activate and Combination Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Detector. Interconnected Smoke and/or Carbon Monoxide Detectors can usually only be connected with the same manufacturers Detectors. Smoke Detectors should be replaced at least every 10 years or per the manufacturers instructions. Carbon Monoxide Detectors should be replaced every 6-8 years or per manufacturers instructions. Battery Detectors should have the battery replaced at least every year or per manufacturers instructions for long life batteries.
